High Surf Advisory issued January 25 at 1:37PM PST until January 26 at 6:00PM PST by NWS Oxnard Catalina and Santa Barbara Islands; Los Angeles County Coast including Downtown Los Angeles; Ventura County Coast ...HIGH SURF ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM PST TUESDAY... * WHAT...Surf will peak at 8 to 12 feet with local sets to 14 feet today through early Tuesday. Surf will slowly subside Tuesday afternoon. * WHERE...Ventura County Coast, Los Angeles County Coast and Catalina and Santa Barbara Islands. * WHEN...Until 6 PM PST Tuesday. * IMPACTS...There is an increased risk for ocean drowning. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Large breaking waves can cause injury, wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats near shore. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Local minor coastal flooding or tidal overflow is possible in low-lying coastal areas such as beach parking lots and harbor walkways within a few hours of the high tides today and Tuesday. Beach erosion is also likely. A High Surf Advisory means beaches in the advisory area will have localized beach erosion and dangerous swimming conditions. Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don`t swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.

Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Travel on area roadways may be affected by gusty cross winds. This includes Kanan, Malibu Canyon, Topanga, and Decker Canyon Roads. Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.
