Red Flag Warning issued July 14 at 1:28PM PDT until July 16 at 9:00AM PDT by NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA ...RED FLAG WARNING IS IN EFFECT FROM NOON WEDNESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING FOR STRONG NORTHWEST TO NORTH WINDS ALONG WITH LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY AND HOT TEMPERATURES FOR THE MOUNTAINS AND SOUTH COAST OF SANTA BARBARA COUNTY AS WELL AS THE VENTURA COUNTY MOUNTAINS AND INTERSTATE 5 CORRIDOR IN LOS ANGELES COUNTY... .Strong northwest to north winds, hot temperatures, and low relative humidity will produce the potential for critical fire- weather conditions late Wednesday through early Thursday. The National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard has issued a Red Flag Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect from noon Wednesday to 9 AM PDT Thursday. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect. * WINDS...Northwest to north winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts of 35 to 55 mph, strongest in Sundowner wind prone areas of southern Santa Barbara County. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...10 to 25 percent. * IMPACTS...If fire ignition occurs, conditions are favorable for extreme fire behavior, rapid fire growth, and long range spotting, which could threaten life and property. The hot air mass will also contribute to the potential for significant vertical plume growth. A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. Use extreme caution with anything that can spark a wildfire. Residents near wildland interfaces should be prepared to evacuate if a wildfire breaks out. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
