orange watch - severe thunderstorm - in effect Scattered thunderstorms have developed ahead of developing low pressure system in North Dakota, some of which have the potential to become severe. The primary hazards are heavy rain, large hail and strong wind gusts. Thunderstorms are expected to slowly advance north and east this evening before weakening near midnight. ### Driving conditions may be difficult. Significant damage to property, buildings and trees is possible. Fast-moving and rapidly rising water can sweep vehicles away and damage infrastructure. Heavy rain can cause flash flooding and significant reductions to visibility. Strong wind gusts can damage trees, buildings and overturn vehicles. Large hail can cause significant damage and injury. Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms capable of producing damaging hail, wind or rain. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to [email protected], call 1-800-239-0484 or post reports on X using #MBStorm. Be prepared for severe weather. If threatening weather approaches, take cover in a basement or interior room. If outside, protect yourself from flying debris and hail. When thunder roars, go indoors! Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year.
