Heat Advisory issued July 16 at 12:34PM MDT until July 16 at 9:00PM MDT by NWS Boise ID * WHAT...Temperatures up to 103 expected. * WHERE...Portions of southwest Idaho and southeast Oregon. * WHEN...Until 9 PM MDT /8 PM PDT/ this evening. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses, especially for the young, elderly, and animals. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

Expect gusty and erratic winds of 40-60 mph in the vicinity of these thunderstorms. * AFFECTED AREA...In Idaho, Fire Weather Zones 420 Treasure Valley BLM, 423 Owyhee Mountains, 424 Western Twin Falls BLM and 426 Southern Highlands. * TIMING...Until 9 PM MDT this evening. * THUNDERSTORMS...Scattered coverage with abundant lightning. * OUTFLOW WINDS...Gusty erratic winds of 40-60 mph. * IMPACTS...Any fire that develops will catch and spread quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended. A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will occur shortly.

Special Weather Statement issued July 16 at 4:32PM MDT by NWS Boise ID At 432 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Winter Camp Butte, or 26 miles southwest of Glenns Ferry, moving north at 20 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and half inch hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Areas of blowing dust possible. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Glenns Ferry, Winter Camp Butte, Deadman Flat, Pot Hole Butte, and Hammett. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. Persons in campgrounds should consider seeking sturdy shelter until this storm passes.
