Flood Watch issued June 26 at 1:30PM CDT until June 27 at 7:00AM CDT by NWS Wichita KS * WHAT...Flooding caused by very wet soils with additional localized heavy rainfall possible. * WHERE...Portions of south central and southeast Kansas, including the following counties, in south central Kansas, Butler, Cowley, Harper, Harvey, Kingman, Reno, Sedgwick and Sumner. In southeast Kansas, Allen, Chautauqua, Elk, Greenwood, Labette, Montgomery, Neosho, Wilson and Woodson. * WHEN...From 7 PM CDT this evening through early Saturday morning. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - A gradual uptick in isolated to scattered thunderstorms is expected this evening through tonight across the watch area. While not everyone will see a thunderstorm, and widespread heavy rainfall appears unlikely at this time, additional localized pockets of heavy rainfall will only aggravate or re-aggravate ongoing flooding concerns across the region. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
