Flood Watch issued June 25 at 4:14AM CDT until June 26 at 7:00AM CDT by NWS Wichita KS * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of central, east central, south central, and southeast Kansas, including the following counties, in central Kansas, Barton, Ellsworth, Lincoln, Marion, McPherson, Rice, Russell and Saline. In east central Kansas, Chase. In south central Kansas, Butler, Cowley, Harper, Harvey, Kingman, Reno, Sedgwick and Sumner. In southeast Kansas, Allen, Chautauqua, Elk, Greenwood, Labette, Montgomery, Neosho, Wilson and Woodson. * WHEN...Through Friday morning. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Storms will gradually move into the area this morning and continue through the early afternoon hours. Additional storms are then expected to develop over southern Kansas late this afternoon and evening. All of these storms will produce high rainfall rates that may lead to flooding. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

Flood Warning issued June 25 at 8:18AM CDT until June 27 at 10:00AM CDT by NWS Wichita KS ...The National Weather Service in Wichita KS has issued a Flood Warning for the following rivers in Kansas... Fall River at Fredonia affecting Wilson County. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Fall River at Fredonia. * WHEN...From Friday afternoon to late Saturday morning. * IMPACTS...At 17.0 feet, Flood waters backup into residential yards located 1 mile south of Fredonia near the gage site off of Highway 96. Expect bank overflows on both banks. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 7:00 AM CDT Thursday the stage was 6.5 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage tomorrow afternoon to a crest of 18.2 feet tomorrow evening. It will then fall below flood stage late tomorrow evening. - Flood stage is 17.0 feet. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov.
