In south central Kentucky, Laurel, McCreary, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Wayne and Whitley. In southeast Kentucky, Bell, Clay, Harlan, Jackson, Knox, Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Owsley and Perry. * WHEN...Until noon EDT today. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - An additional round of showers and thunderstorms are expected to affect southwestern parts of the area through noon. Flash Flood Warning issued June 28 at 5:19AM EDT until June 28 at 7:00AM EDT by NWS Jackson KY At 519 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen across portions of the warned area since 3 AM. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area between 5:30 and 6:30 AM. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Co-Operative, Great Meadows Campsites, Griffin, Parmleysville, Blue Heron, Burfield, Mount Pisgah, Stearns, Pine Knot, Strunk, Slickford, Hidalgo, Powersburg, Sunnybrook and Hollyhill. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
