In south central Kentucky, Laurel, McCreary, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Wayne and Whitley. In southeast Kentucky, Bell, Clay, Harlan, Jackson, Knox, Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Owsley and Perry. * WHEN...Until noon EDT today. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - An additional round of showers and thunderstorms will affect southwestern parts of the area through noon. Flash Flood Warning issued June 28 at 8:40AM EDT until June 28 at 10:00AM EDT by NWS Jackson KY At 840 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen since 7:30 AM. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area through 9:30 AM. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Monticello, Whitley City, Gregory, Denney, Kidds Crossing, Coopersville, Slavens, Ritner, Barrier, Rockeybranch, Delta, Oil Valley, Steubenville, Cooper, Wiborg, Parkers Lake, Marshes Siding, Stearns, Parnell and Susie. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
