LOUIS THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF AITKIN, BRAINERD, CASS LAKE, CASTLE DANGER, CLOQUET, DULUTH, EAST GULL LAKE, ESTERDY, GRAND MARAIS, GRAND RAPIDS, HINCKLEY, INTERNATIONAL FALLS, LAKE SHORE, PINE CITY, PINE RIVER, SCHLEY, SILVER BAY, TWO HARBORS, AND WALKER. Flood Watch issued June 18 at 10:31AM CDT until June 19 at 7:00AM CDT by NWS Duluth MN * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...In Minnesota, in north central Minnesota, Koochiching, North Cass and Itasca Counties. In northeast Minnesota, central and northern St. Louis County. This includes the Tribal Lands of the Bois Forte Band, Nett Lake, Deer Creek and, Lake Vermilion areas. Recreation spots such as Voyageurs National Park. This also includes the Boundary Waters western area. * WHEN...Through Wednesday morning. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Showers and thunderstorms are expected to bring heavy rain today, with localized areas receiving up to 1 to 3 inches of rain. This will fall on top of already saturated soils and rivers with normal to above normal streamflow. The heaviest rain is expected early this morning and through the day today. - Flood safety information can be found at www.weather.gov/safety/flood. Portage and hiking trails may become slick and potentially impassable and ponding of water could inundate low-lying campsites across the Boundary Waters.

Flash Flood Warning issued June 18 at 3:40PM CDT until June 18 at 8:15PM CDT by NWS Duluth MN At 340 PM CDT Tuesday, trained spotters reported flash flooding occurring from Side Lake to Tower. Thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Public reported. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Hibbing, Grand Rapids, Lake Vermilion, Virginia, Chisholm, Mountain Iron, Cohasset, Coleraine, Keewatin, Buhl, Nashwauk, Cook, Tower, Taconite, Orr, Meadow Brook, Warba, Zemple, Crane Lake and Gheen. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and to the National Weather Service in Duluth when you can do so safely. Flooding can be reported to the National Weather Service at 1-800-685-8612.
