Southern Hinds County in central Mississippi... * Until 600 PM CDT. * At 359 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Jackson, Byram, Raymond, Terry, Edwards and Learned. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Big Black River Near Bovina affecting Warren and Hinds Counties. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Big Black River near Bovina. * WHEN...Until early Sunday morning. * IMPACTS...At 32.0 feet, Several access roads along and near the river are under water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:15 AM CDT Wednesday the stage was 27.4 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage early tomorrow afternoon to a crest of 31.0 feet Friday morning. - Flood stage is 28.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 31.0 feet on 09/27/2002. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas.
