Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Special Weather Statement issued July 4 at 6:22PM CDT by NWS Memphis TN At 622 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Pittsboro, or 14 miles west of Houston, moving north at 20 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Bruce, Calhoun City, Vardaman, Derma, Pittsboro, Pyland, Big Creek, Thorn, Bounds, Reid, Loyd, Tabbville, Shepherd, and Skuna. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
