Special Weather Statement issued July 12 at 6:56PM EDT by NWS Raleigh NC At 655 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Dunn to near Fort Bragg to 12 miles north of Rockingham. Movement was southeast at 10 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Fayetteville, Sanford, Southern Pines, Rockingham, Raeford, Lillington, Carthage, Fort Bragg, Pinehurst, and Dunn. This includes the following highways... Interstate 95 between Mile Markers 81 and 41. Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 327 and 334, and between Mile Markers 336 and 353. US 1 between Mile Markers 69 and 76. Interstate 73 between Mile Markers 26 and 45. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
