Special Weather Statement issued July 6 at 8:05PM CDT by NWS Shreveport LA At 805 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 8 miles north of Broken Bow, or 26 miles west of De Queen, moving southeast at 15 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Idabel, Broken Bow, Oak Hill, Holly Creek, Hochatown, Eagletown, Glover and Golden. Monitor the weather situation closely and be alert for threatening weather conditions. This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
