Air Quality Alert issued July 15 at 3:18PM EDT by NWS State College PA The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has issued a Code RED Air Quality Alert for all of Central Pennsylvania for Thursday, July 16th. The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has issued a Code ORANGE Air Quality Alert for all of Central Pennsylvania for Friday, July 17th. Wildfire smoke from Ontario Canada and Minnesota will enter the Commonwealth from north to south this afternoon and linger through Friday. Everyone may experience health effects. Members of sensitive groups may experience more serious health effects. For more information on ground-level ozone and fine particles, visit www.airnow.gov, and www.aqpartners.state.pa.us.

Special Weather Statement issued July 15 at 4:03PM EDT by NWS State College PA At 402 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Barbours, moving east at 30 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Jamison City, Waller, Kettle Creek Gorge, Ricketts Glen State Park, Central, Ralston, Fairmount Spgs, Biggertown, Muncy Valley, Barbours, Benton, Picture Rocks, Laporte, Stillwater, Eagles Mere, and Hillsgrove. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service. Persons in campgrounds should consider seeking sturdy shelter until this storm passes.
