For the second Heat Advisory, heat index values up to 107 expected. * WHERE...Much of the Piedmont of northeast Georgia, western North Carolina, and Upstate South Carolina. * WHEN...For the first Heat Advisory, until 8 PM EDT this evening. For the second Heat Advisory, from noon to 8 PM EDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

South central Anderson County in Upstate South Carolina... Abbeville County in Upstate South Carolina... * Until 700 PM EDT. * At 600 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 5 miles north of Abbeville to 11 miles southwest of Greenwood, moving west at 20 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Minor hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to trees and power lines. * Locations impacted include... Abbeville, Calhoun Falls, Lake Secession, Lowndesville, Richard B Russell Dam, Lake Russell, and Antreville. Brief damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines over small areas. A brief period of large hail is also possible. Seek shelter inside an interior room. If on or near Lake Secession or southern Lake Hartwell, get away from the water and move indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 15 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
