Jerauld County in central South Dakota... * Until 515 PM CDT. * At 428 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 7 miles north of Wessington Springs to 7 miles southwest of Lane to 8 miles northwest of Plankinton, moving east at 40 mph. HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings. * Severe thunderstorms will be near... Alpena, Lane, and Storla around 435 PM CDT. Woonsocket around 440 PM CDT. Other locations in the path of these severe thunderstorms include Letcher and Forestburg. Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the basement or small central room in a sturdy structure. Prepare immediately for large hail and damaging winds. Tornado Warning issued July 2 at 5:01PM CDT until July 2 at 5:30PM CDT by NWS Sioux Falls SD At 501 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located 10 miles south of Cavour, or 12 miles southeast of Huron, moving east at 45 mph. HAZARD...Tornado and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation. IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely. This tornadic thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of northern Sanborn and southeastern Beadle Counties. TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.
