Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued July 2 at 4:29PM CDT until July 2 at 5:15PM CDT by NWS Sioux Falls SD SVRFSD The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls has issued a * Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... Northwestern Davison County in southeastern South Dakota... Sanborn County in east central South Dakota... South central Beadle County in east central South Dakota... Northern Aurora County in south central South Dakota... Jerauld County in central South Dakota... * Until 515 PM CDT. * At 428 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 7 miles north of Wessington Springs to 7 miles southwest of Lane to 8 miles northwest of Plankinton, moving east at 40 mph. HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings. * Severe thunderstorms will be near... Alpena, Lane, and Storla around 435 PM CDT. Woonsocket around 440 PM CDT. Other locations in the path of these severe thunderstorms include Letcher and Forestburg. Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the basement or small central room in a sturdy structure. Prepare immediately for large hail and damaging winds. People outside should move immediately to shelter inside a strong building. Stay away from windows. To report severe weather, contact your nearest law enforcement agency. They will send your report to the National Weather Service office in Sioux Falls. Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

Tornado Warning issued July 2 at 5:01PM CDT until July 2 at 5:30PM CDT by NWS Sioux Falls SD At 501 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located 10 miles south of Cavour, or 12 miles southeast of Huron, moving east at 45 mph. HAZARD...Tornado and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation. IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely. This tornadic thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of northern Sanborn and southeastern Beadle Counties. TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris. This cluster of thunderstorms is capable of producing tornadoes and widespread significant wind damage. Do not wait to see or hear the tornado. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to flash flooding.
