Flood Advisory issued July 7 at 9:37PM EDT until July 8 at 12:45AM EDT by NWS Blacksburg VA * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of west central Virginia, including the following counties and independent city, Alleghany VA, Bath, Botetourt and City of Covington. * WHEN...Until 1245 AM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 937 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. - This includes the following streams and drainages... Claylick Run, Cedar Creek, Dry Creek, Dunlap Creek, Dry Run, Falling Spring Creek, Cove Run and Cowpasture River. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Covington... Clifton Forge... Iron Gate... Low Moor... Selma... Carloover...
